Vampire survival game V Rising's 1.0 release arrives on PC this May

13 Mar 2024

After spending nearly two years in an early access phase brimming with development and enhancements, Stunlock Studios is proud to underline the final chapter of V Rising's pre-release journey. The much-acclaimed vampire-themed survival game is slated for its full version 1.0 release on PC come May 17th, with plans to extend its shadowy embrace to PlayStation 5 enthusiasts in the latter part of the year.

For those yet to dive into the nocturnal world of V Rising, the game first made its appearance in early access around May 2022, quickly captivating players with its isometric perspective on the survival genre. This game invites players, along with their allies, to traverse a dark, expansive, open world, all while striving to cement their dominion as supreme vampiric entities.

What sets V Rising apart are its inventive additions to the survival game mold. These include a crucial day/night cycle compelling vampires to seek refuge from the perilous sunshine, a compelling mechanic for draining blood from varying creatures to absorb their unique abilities, and the chance to erect a grand, gothic castle as a testament to one’s power.

The game's initial launch period saw it drawing in over a million players within just seven days, a testament to its immediate allure. Since that explosive start, Stunlock Studios has not rested, consistently enriching the early access phase with more content and features, anticipating the major uplift the 1.0 release aims to usher in.

Come May, the full release promises to fine-tune the game, notably enhancing the journey toward and through the end-game. A highlight is the introduction of a new armor and weapons tier along with a comprehensive balance overhaul across the board, ensuring a more fluid progression. Additionally, existing armor tiers have been expanded in the 1.0 version to include sets that carry distinct statistical profiles and visuals reflective of the game's distinct combat roles, such as brute, warrior, rogue, and scholar. This expansion allows players to delve deeper into their preferred playstyle.

Moreover, the upcoming update endeavors to revitalize the end-game PvP dynamics on dedicated servers. A significant pivot is transforming shards from stationary buildings into wearable necklaces that players must actively replenish by engaging with the game world. This adjustment is expected to fuel a more lively and engaging communal experience, simultaneously catering to different player inclinations towards combat or cooperation.

Alongside these adjustments, other enhancements, including extended customization options and a revamped lighting system, have been outlined in a blog post from the developers earlier this year.

Mark your calendars for May 17th, when V Rising emerges from the shadows on Steam for its grand 1.0 PC release. And for those awaiting its arrival on the PS5, keep an eye out for further updates scheduled later in the year as V Rising prepares to expand its nocturnal reign to new platforms.
