28 Aug 2026

The recent Gamescom Opening Night Live event featured an exciting display of offerings by NetEase, with a key highlight centered on the survival title Once Human. This game, which recently expanded its reach to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S after its PC debut, is gearing up for a substantial content update scheduled for October.

During the live presentation hosted by Geoff Keighley, details emerged about an expansive update named Isles of Abyss. Hailed as the most significant expansion yet, it will introduce a new ocean-themed setting, vastly enhancing the game's survival mechanics.

The update promises to deliver a groundbreaking survival experience that spans across a network of islands, Consider this revision: "the vast open waters, extending even into the deepest realms.". In this challenging new environment, players will encounter a variety of dangers, including:

  • Haunted vessels roaming the waters
  • Colossal mechanical adversaries
  • Imposing sea creatures emerging from the depths

To address these threats, players will have the opportunity to construct and upgrade their own floating stronghold. Starting as a basic raft, it can be developed into a formidable vessel, now armed with cannons and additional offensive enhancements.

Although NetEase has not specified an exact release date for the Isles of Abyss expansion, it is confirmed to roll out in October. Be Remember to stay tuned for any forthcoming updates and detailed news as the launch date approaches.
