Apple Maps Provide COVID-19 US Vaccination Locations

25 Mar 2021

After the recent Google announcement of the COVID-19 vaccination site locator update for Google Maps, Apple decided to implement the same feature in Apple Maps. Now owners of Apple devices can ask Siri to find the nearest vaccination site within the US or look for it manually. The information cards include addresses, links to vaccination provider websites, operating hours, and phone numbers. All the data is sourced from VaccineFinder developed by Boston Children’s Hospital. This is the same source Google uses. Additionally, businesses can contribute by submitting the information via the Apple Business Register page.

The first update included 20,000+ vaccination sites within the US, and many more are to be added. There are also multiple similar Apple Maps updates on the international level. You can already update your app to receive vaccination site locations if you live in Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Australia, Canada, France, New Zealand, Portugal, Singapore, Thailand, and Taiwan. Additionally, Siri received a portion of approved knowledge about the virus and pandemic. How do you like the update? Is it helpful enough or needs any improvements? Tell your thoughts in the comments and share the news with other Apple users.
