Alan Wake 2 Has Recouped “Most” of its Development and Marketing Budget

The much-anticipated sequel, Alan Wake 2, received widespread praise and numerous awards upon its debut last year. While its sales figures didn't quite match up to the acclaim, the survival horror game has still been performing well in the market. It achieved a remarkable milestone as Remedy Entertainment's fastest-selling title, surpassing 1.3 million units sold. Despite not yet hitting the break-even point for its production budget, progress continues toward that target.
In a recent earnings report, Remedy highlighted the successful launch of Alan Wake 2's first expansion, Night Springs, and announced an upcoming physical edition. The studio noted that the sequel has recouped "most" of its marketing and development expenses.
The earnings report included information from a recent call with investors, where it was shared that more than 80 percent of the game's budget has been recovered. This suggests that the game is on a path to profitability, especially with the second expansion, The Lake House, scheduled for release this October.
Alan Wake 2 is now accessible on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.
